Project 25:40 Thanksgiving Food Drive
The Thanksgiving season is here. Throughout the school, you will see turkeys and pumpkins. Our classes are talking about how much we have for which to be thankful.
One of the ways PDS families have traditionally shown their desire to live out Matthew 25:40 is by giving to others in our community who are in need. This year, as in the past, we are asking for donations for Thanksgiving food baskets. We will be collecting canned goods and non-perishable food items to be distributed through the Neighborhood Christian Center starting Monday, November 13 and ending on Monday, November 20.
Participation is voluntary. It is our desire that our boys will learn to serve others and by this, follow Jesus’ command to “love your neighbor as yourself.” At Friday morning’s chapel, we will share these alarming Shelby County stats with the boys in grades 1–6.
- 21.2% (195,510) of Shelby County is food insecure
- 23.3% (121,000) of Shelby County children are food insecure
For all boys in grades 1–6 dropping off cans, we will collect your cans from your homeroom. For all EC boys dropping off cans, we will have several 6th boys collecting your cans at carpool each morning starting Monday, November 13 and ending on Monday, November 20.
