Looking Ahead: Information for Next School Year
We have enjoyed celebrating PDS’ 75th anniversary with you. It really has been an incredible year with parties, reflections, and a compilation of 75 things that define PDS. We are grateful you were a part of this special year. Now, the end of the school year is upon us. The last few weeks of school are filled with class days, diplomas, and what we believe is a seminal moment for sixth grade boys — the annual Father and Son retreat. It’s an exciting, meaningful month at our school. As we look ahead to the next school year, we want to share a few important updates.
School Calendar
Next year’s calendar is now available. You’ll notice a few changes, including a reduction in half-day dismissals. Most importantly, the first day of school for JK-6 will be Tuesday, August 13. YK and PK will begin the following day, August 14th.

Dress Code
At PDS, we believe in fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel comfortable and proud to represent our school community. We believe that a significant aspect of school spirit is fostered through our boys’ attire. As such, our dress code policy reflects our commitment to promoting school spirit while also allowing for individual expression.
While the dress code is largely unchanged, it has been codified and organized for clarity. One change, however, regards outerwear for next year. Beginning in August, all outerwear must either be plain (with the exception of logos from the clothing brand) or official PDS outerwear sold in the Spirit Store.
Poplar Ave. Construction
As we make progress toward construction of the Poplar Avenue security entrance and fence transforming the front of campus, traffic flow may be affected through and around campus during summer camps and potentially a portion of the first semester. Please pay attention to the weekly camp communications for details on changes to traffic patterns. We will continue to communicate updates throughout the summer.
Grandparents’ Day is Friday, October 25
Please save the date for Grandparents’ Day! Grandparents will receive mailings this summer about the event, but please also communicate the date to them. We want every PDS grandparent to join us! Mrs. Southerland is already planning another musical extravaganza!
