At PDS, we believe that God is heartbroken… and we are too.

PDS recognizes that our nation and our city are experiencing great pain right now. Specifically, the tragic and senseless deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and others before them have left us once again confronting the racial prejudice deeply ingrained within our society. Racist policies and ideals against Black and Brown people are not specific to 2020. PDS believes they are systemic, they are wrong, and they are evil.

Our hearts are with the families of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd.

Our hearts are with Black and Brown people all over our nation who ache to see this same injustice continue to play out again and again.

Our hearts are with the families within our PDS family who are hurting and fearful of what this world can do to the precious Black and Brown boys they are raising.

We are listening. We see your pain. We are hurting with you.

At PDS, our mission has long been to glorify God by developing boys in wisdom and stature and favor with God and man. As leaders who seek to develop wisdom in our boys, we feel it is imperative that we model living in that wisdom; therefore, we must continue to confront racism and to work with our faculty, staff, families, and others in our community to better understand the cultural trauma of our Black and Brown students and families. As we grow in our understanding, our hope is for a community where equity, inclusion, and the Gospel permeate all that we do.

One way to define wisdom is seeing the world as God sees it. When we look at the world right now, wisdom tells us that something is wrong. At PDS, we believe that God is heartbroken. And we are too. Let us pray for the healing in our nation, our city, and in our PDS community.
