PDS Preview Magazine - Fall 2024
I hope this finds your family doing well and enjoying the slower pace of summer. First, I would like to extend a warm welcome to our new families joining us this year and welcome back all returning families. We are intentionally preparing for another great year at PDS and are honored to be part of your son’s educational journey.
I invite you to explore the PDS Preview: 2024–2025, a comprehensive resource packed with information on programs, events, and important dates. Whether you prefer to plan well in advance or closer to the date, I trust the Preview will provide a useful overview of the year ahead. I encourage you to take the time to review these pages and familiarize yourself with what lies ahead. Please remember that our Leadership Team and faculty are always available to meet with you individually should you require further information. Also highlighted in the Preview are our dedicated faculty members who continuously refine their skills to positively impact the PDS boys. Please note the many faculty members who either participated in or led educational conferences, preparing for another year of boy-centered learning.
Each school year is a vital chapter in your son’s development. He is building on previous experiences while laying the foundation for future learning and character development. I encourage you to join us as we celebrate and cherish these early years.
Reflecting on the amount of growth that a PDS boy makes from the time he enters as a Young Knight until he steps into the role of a student leader as a sixth grader, I am reminded of a poem titled “The Sculptor:”
The Sculptor Author Unknown
I took a piece of potter’s clay
And idly fashioned it one day,
And as my fingers pressed it still,
It moved and yielded to my will.
I came again when days were passed,
The bit of clay was hard at last.
The form I gave it still it bore,
And I could change that form no more.
I took a piece of living clay
And gently formed it day by day,
And molded with my power and art,
A young child’s soft and yielding heart.
I came again when years were gone,
It was a man I looked upon.
He still that early impress wore,
And I could change him nevermore.
I am excited as we embark on another year filled with moments of growth and discovery and look forward to seeing your son back on campus soon!
